Seductive Aporetics has made another roleplaying setting, this time big business in the near future. Like my thought on the Quest for the Phoenix Throne, this isn't ODTC-related, so I'm writing about it here instead of in the weekly posts.
The random nature of upgrades makes it difficult to plan a harem precisely, but there are ways to mitigate that. Here goes:
If I were creating a male CEO (+10 Resources), I would choose Taggart Industries (Sibling Rivalry and Sensual/Insatiable Hallmark) and a Restrained Harem Type (40 Resources, 3 CEO Backgrounds, extra trait slot).
This gives me 60 Resources, including the 10 Resource signing bonus. My CEO Backgrounds would be Pure Perfection, Chosen Favorite [sic] and Extreme Methods. Just how extreme will become apparent.
My first Companion would be Colette, a Taggart Industries Concubine (10 Resources, bought with my signing bonus) and my Chosen Favorite. She starts off Skilled (+1 Training), Insatiable (+2 Passion, +1 Training) and Caring (+1 on two upgrade roll results for any other Companions), with one more trait slot available. She gets an extra slot for my Harem Type and another for having the fully upgraded Hallmark Trait from my corporation. I'll add another via Luxurious Fashion (2 Resources) for a total of four and upgrade her Skilled trait to Gifted (+2 Training, +1 Obedience) for another point of Resources (no need to roll, thanks to the CEO Background).
Her other four traits, also upgraded without needing to roll, will be Slavish (+2 Obedience, +1 Passion), Peaked (+4 Passion), Controlled (+4 Obedience) and Augmented (+4 Training), the last three unlocked by Extreme Methods. This would give her a total of Passion 9 (Transhuman), Obedience 9 (Transhuman), Training 9 (Transhuman) for 21 Resources. See what I mean about extreme?
Next up is Sensual (+1 Passion), Slavish (+2 Obedience, +1 Passion), Perfectionist (Companions cured of mishaps can attempt upgrades again) Volunteer Serena for 9 Resources, with one free trait slot natively and another for my Harem Type. I give her Casual Fashion (for free) and make her Stimmed (+2 Passion) and Enhanced (for 2 Resources). I then try to upgrade Sensual and Enhanced (for 2 Resources).
Sensual->Insatiable (+2 Passion, +1 Training): Roll 1. Major Mishap. Remove Flaw for 2 Resources using Pure Perfection and attempt again using Serena's Perfectionist trait (1 Resource). Roll 2, increased to 3 by Colette's Caring trait. Qualified Success. Remove Flaw for 2 Resources using Pure Perfection.
Enhanced->Augmented (+4 Training): Roll 4. Qualified Success. Flaw: Resentful, removed by Sophia's Head Girl trait (see below).
This gives her a total of Passion 7 (Amazing), Obedience 5 (Great), Training 7 (Amazing) for 18 Resources.
Finally, I add my Sister, Controlled (+4 Obedience) Head Girl (Remove 1 flaw from another Companion for free, which I use on Serena's Resentful Flaw) Sophia for a very reasonable 8 Resources. She has two more trait slots, plus another from my Harem Type. I give her Infused Fashion (+1 Passion, +1 Training) for 2 Resources and the Skilled, Stimmed and Enhanced traits, which I then attempt to upgrade (for 6 Resources in total).
Skilled->Gifted (+2 Training, +1 Obedience): Roll 1. Major Mishap. Remove Flaw for 2 Resources using Pure Perfection and attempt again using Serena's Perfectionist trait (1 Resource). Roll 3. Qualified Success. Remove Flaw for 2 Resources using Pure Perfection.
Stimmed->Peaked (+4 Passion): Roll 5. Total Success
Enhanced->Augmented (+4 Training): Roll 4, increased to 5 by Colette's Caring trait. Total Success.
I think this would be perfect for a Sensible (50 Resources, 2 CEO Backgrounds, +1 to rolls for company offerings) Female (+1 CEO Background) CEO, taking all four models.
Take Pure Perfection, Chosen Favorite (Emerald) and Fortune's Favor [sic] and give Infused Fashion to all except Emerald (as in the background), who gets Luxurious Fashion.
Lily gets +2 Training from her Infused Fashion.
Skilled->Gifted: Roll 2+1=3. Qualified Success. Flaw=Stilted (-2 Passion)
Enhanced->Augmented: Roll 4+1+2=7. Total Success.
Passion -2 (Terrible), Obedience 5 (Great), Training 9 (Transhuman) for 10 Resources.
Emerald gets an extra trait slot and doesn't need to roll for upgrades, so she can be Insatiable, Sculpted, Slavish and Augmented. Maybe if she ever gets her Training up to Transhuman levels, she'll be allowed to have the nanite suit she craves.
Passion 7 (Amazing), Obedience 5 (Great), Training 7 (Amazing) for 15 Resources.
Keiko gets +2 Passion from her Infused Fashion.
Accepting->Slavish: Roll 3+1=4. Qualified Success. Flaw removed with Pure Perfection.
Alluring->Sculpted: Roll 6+1=7. Total Success.
Enhanced->Augmented: Roll 2+1+2=5. Total Success.
Competitive (+3 Training for three other Models in the harem)
Passion 7 (Amazing), Obedience 5 (Great), Training 9 (Transhuman) for 17 Resources.
Lana gets +2 Training from her Infused Fashion and her Sculpted and Augmented traits are already upgraded, so she has an extra trait slot, allowing her to take:
Sensual->Insatiable: Roll 1. Re-roll with Fortune's Favor: 3+1=4. Qualified Success. Flaw removed with Pure Perfection.
Accepting->Slavish: Roll 5+1=6. Total Success.
Passion 7 (Amazing), Obedience 5 (Great), Training 9 (Transhuman) for 18 Resources.
I didn't use the second re-roll, in case the results were worse than the first.
